Cloudy Bay è una delle più celebri cantine della Nuova Zelanda, un vero punto di riferimento del vino nella regione Marlborough. Venne fondata nel 1985 da David Hohnen, pioniere della moderna vitivinicoltura di qualità in Nuova Zelanda, e chiamata Cloudy Bay in omaggio all’esploratore britannico James Cook che, sbarcando sulle coste dell’attuale Marlborough nel 1770 in concomitanza di un’inondazione e di eventi climatici avversi, definì l’area come “baia nuovolosa”.
